I am a second year student studying Pre-Commerce and I am from Chesapeake, VA. Ever since my sophomore year of high school I have mentored students, such as through my schools Freshman mentorship program and working with students at my church. When I got to college, I wanted to find a community where I could continue volunteering in the Charlottesville area. Rise Together gave me the chance to do that. After a very fun and impactful first year with the organization, I decided that I wanted to join the leadership team to expand my impact. I have experience in marketing and I am an advocate for expanding the program to many more students at the University, so the Rise Together recruitment team felt like the right fit for me. My goal for the 2020-21 year is to create more social events. I think that when it comes to volunteering, especially for new volunteers who may not yet know each other and be more reserved, social events will make the team more of a family, which will have a positive effect on our work with the students.
