I am from Medfield, MA and I am a fourth year in the Mcintire School of Commerce. I have been a part of Rise Together since my First Year spring semester, and have been a member of the Leadership Team for three semesters. I decided to join the Leadership Team because I saw the valuable impact that the group was able to make at our partner schools throughout Charlottesville, and I wanted to take on a larger role in that process. I have enjoyed seeing the development of the students at our partner schools, as well as the development of our UVA mentors, and I look forward to another year as a part of the organization. My goal for this upcoming year is to collaborate with the other Team Leaders in adapting the curriculum throughout the semester in order to meet the needs of the students. During the past few months, we have seen the world change due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic greatly impacted education throughout the country, and this impact will continue to affect students in different ways. I hope to prepare the mentors to help AVID students at our partner schools adapt and overcome these changes so they can move forward in their education and continue to grow and learn.
